Getting Found When Your Name Isn't Unique
Solving a local search visibility problem with the signals Google uses to tell similarly named businesses apart.
The problem
A local professional had a genuine, working Google Business Profile, but when clients searched for him by name, it barely showed up. Results were dominated by people with similar names in unrelated industries and a competing business with a nearly identical team name. His actual business was getting buried under noise that had nothing to do with him.
What I built
- Diagnosed the competing listings and name collisions pulling search traffic away
- Audited the profile for completeness, category accuracy, and listing consistency
- Identified the review gap hurting visibility relative to competing profiles
- Built a plan around consistent naming, complete profile data, and real client reviews
- Recommended a dedicated website as one clear, owned source for the business identity
The result
A clear plan instead of a guessing game.
We identified the real cause, a genuine name collision problem, then built a strategy around reviews, consistency, and ownership of a dedicated web presence.
